NBCRightNow.com - Coming to a store near you; a step forward today shows just how close the area is to seeing pot retail stores.
The lottery results are in from the Liquor Control Board. - In Yakima County ten retail license applications were drawn from the lottery. Those do not include the seven picked in just the City of Yakima alone. - In Walla Walla County three were chosen with two in Walla Walla and one in College Place. - In Benton County another three shops were chosen, all of which would be in Prosser.
However, not all cities and counties had a lottery.
"Our primary goal is to get this system up and running. As such those cities with bans and moratoriums, we're going to be processing those license applications last," explained Mikhail Carpenter from the WA State Liquor Control Board.
They did not hold lotteries for cities and counties that had fewer applicants than available spots. They control board did explain a list of the applicants that passed the pre-screening process will be available next week.
