Yakima Valley Law Enforcement Celebrates "Chiefs for a Day"

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.--Law enforcement agencies across the Yakima Valley were busy helping local families in need Friday.

"Chiefs for a Day" raises money for deserving kids and their families.

All three children selected this year have been diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening medical conditions.

Event organizers said it's important to give these families something that they want or need.

"Those things that you just don't get yourself because you have money going other places," said Nikki Sandino with the Yakima Police Department. "Things to play in the backyard, things to do as a family that you don't do because you have other financial obligations."

The kids chosen this year are Adriel Gonzalez of Yakima, Kylee Ramsey of Selah and Carlos Hernandez of Wapato.

All of the money raised Saturday will be split between the three families.
