Cinco de Mayo Celebrations Take Over Downtown Yakima

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.--We're just a day away from Cinco de Mayo but celebrations are already happening.

Yakima Avenue from First Street to Third Street is closed down so the festivities can take over a good chunk of the downtown area.

There's everything from food vendors, dancing, and soccer and basketball tournaments.

Vendors said it's a great time to show off the Latino culture.

"Everyone is welcome to come and see what the culture is about and explore and experience all these kinds of things," said Selena Sanchez, an employee at Taco El Grande.

A parade and a dancing horse show were the two big attractions Sunday afternoon.

On Monday, Yakima Valley Community College will host their annual celebration of Latin music at the Capitol Theatre.
