RED LODGE, Mont. - A deadly avalanche in Missoula; Ravaging floods in Musselshell County, and a deadly tornado dubbed the Father's Day Tornado: It's safe to say people in Montana have dealt with their fair share of severe natural disasters.

PPL Montana knows this and wants to keep the agencies and officials who are in charge of keeping the public safe, up on their toes and ready at a moments notice if disaster strikes. To do this, they host an annual mock natural disaster.

Boyd Burnett with PPL Montana says protecting lives is the main reason these mock natural disasters are held. Burnett goes on to say playing through these scenarios gives everyone a better idea on how to handle a natural disaster.

This year's mock natural disaster took out Stillwater County because of the Mystic Dam malfunctioning.

Next year, Great Falls will be flooded.

    WASHINGTON - Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is complaining that Senate Democrats are holding the department's nominees "hostage" to a political agenda that includes opposition to his review of presidentially designated monuments. In a sharply worded letter to Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Zinke says it's unfortunate that Democrats have placed holds on four Interior nominees.
