SPOKANE, Wash. -- Street Legal High School drag races will return to the Spokane County Raceway this weekend with the first event of the season set for this Friday, May 9, starting at 6:00 p.m. PDT. The NHRA Summit Series No. 3 "Land of Leaders" event will also be held at SCR this Saturday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m. PDT.

With the drag style races about to kick off here in Spokane, Sam Adams and SWX spent some time at the track and under the hood with local Nostalgia Funny Car favorite, Lady Elaine Racing. One of the only female Funny Car drivers in the state of Washington, Elaine Sellers, and her crew showed off the World's fastest Chevy II F/C and just how loud it can get when it's going down the track.

Sellers is the two-time defending NHRA Washington State Funny Car Champion driving Lady Elaine at speeds up to 200 mph.

More will come about Sellers and the mission of Lady Elaine Racing next week.

The drag races at Spokane County Raceway this season offer families good wholesome fun for racing enthusiast where you can be right up close and personal with the action on the strip.

The High School drag races are free for entrants as long as they have a valid driver's liscense, a current high school ID, release and waiver of liability, assumption of risk and an indemnity agreement signed by their parents if under 18 years of age.
