The actress who played Wendy the waitress on the smash hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother has barely had time to twirl on a bar-stool since calling last drinks at MacLaren’s Pub.
Off the back of her success on How I Met Your Mother, Charlene Amoia’s career has gone from strength to strength; from lead roles in feature films to numerous TV offers, it’d seem the only thing Buffalo native’s now bringing to the table is her in-demand acting talent.
It’s been a couple of years since Amoia served Barney his liquid energy at MacLaren’s, now the busy film actress returns to TV comedy with a guest-spot on the upcoming season finale of The Soul Man.
The TV Land laffer, starring comic powerhouse Cedric the Entertainer, revolves around a famous R&B Singer who is called up to take over preaching duties at his father’s church.
As a huge fan of the comic superstar and his series, Amoia didn’t need any game show-style thinking music when the opportunity arose to play Ariana, one-half of a lovely but new age-y, Wang Chung type couple that Boyce (Cedric the Entertainer) and Lolli (Niecy Nash) have to deal with.
Despite having already worked with some of the most popular names in showbiz (Will Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Alicia Silverstone, John Schneider, Lea Thompson), for former TV waitress Amoia the opportunity to trade gags with Cedric the Entertainer and the cast of TV hit The Soul Man was the juicy cherry perched on the side of a MacLaren’s cocktail.
