YAKIMA, WA. -- Hundreds of kids and their parents came out to Sarg Hubbard Park Saturday afternoon for Family Field Day.
The 10th annual event was free to the public and there was plenty to do from dancing, to sword fights and even kayaking. Being active was the whole point here. Organizers want kids to get outside and exercise.
"Our goal is to have families say 'oh we can make some different choices.'" volunteer Kathleen Goyette said. "It doesn't have to be a night and day change but a little bit every day, everyone gets a little bit better every day. It's not only good for you, it's good for our community."
It's estimated that if the current generation continues its unhealthy habits, then it will be the first generation with a shorter average life span than the one before it.
