WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Barack Obama has presented the Medal of Honor to a former Army sergeant originally from Seattle.

Sgt. Kyle White saved a comrade's life and helped ensure that other wounded survivors of the attack were evacuated. He is only the seventh living recipient of the top military award for valor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.

White retired from the Army in 2011 as a sergeant. He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte with a finance degree, and he now works as an investment analyst at a bank in Charlotte.

White said that after the ambush, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. He urged veterans suffering from the illness to get help.
