RICHLAND, WA - There is a new event coming to Richland this weekend for anyone interested in skateboarding.
The Richland Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Spring Skatefest, at Jeannette Taylor Skate Park on Friday. There will be free food, music, demonstrations and games.
The 22,100-square-foot park features obstacles for both beginners and advanced skaters including a snake run, a flat rail and a pool style bowl with a 10-foot half-pipe.
"It'd been quite some time since any kind of organized event had been held here," said Stan Johnson, the coordinator for Richland Parks and Recreation. "We have this beautiful facility and we felt like we needed to put something together to get people out to the park, enjoy it and give them the opportunity to have some fun."
Spring Skatefest is Friday, May 16th at Jeannette Taylor Skate Park, located at 1185 Carondelet Drive in Richland. The event runs from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., and it is free.
