JUST ASK SHANE: Chip Sealing Road Work in Benton County
KENNEWICK, WA - We're getting close to summertime, which means it's also road work season. Jamie sent us a question saying, "I can't find many details on the chip sealing and oil and gravel work that will be done around the Locust Grove exit on Interstate 82. Do you know the schedule for the projects?
We talked with the Benton County Public Works department, and the project Jamie is asking about is part of a month-long effort to chip seal about 50 miles worth of county roads over the next few weeks. Right now, they're laying down oil and gravel on many of the side streets in the Reata Road area. They expect to finish up the work on the side streets and cul de sacs by the middle of next week.
After that, they will chip seal a long section of Clodfelter Road from Interstate 82 to Tripple Vista, and then south to Locust Grove Road. After that, they'll work on Locust Grove Road from Clodfelter to Bofer Canyon Road. And following that, they will chip seal a stretch of Bofer Canyon Road from Locust Grove to Coffin Road. They hope to have the chip sealing work completed by the end of May.
