Monster trucks and giant machines are taking over Columbia Park this weekend for the 4th Annual Kidz Dig Rigz.
KENNEWICK, WA - Monster trucks and giant machines are taking over Columbia Park this weekend for the 4th Annual Kidz Dig Rigz.
The event, hosted by Kadlec Regional Medical Center, is split into four different zones including agriculture, construction, hero and hot rods. Nearly 90 vehicles will be at the park for kids to play on.
There will also be music, food, bouncy houses and dozens of popular mascots and heroes, including Ronald McDonald, Super Man and Miss Teen Tri-Cities.
"The looks on the kids' faces...it is just so awesome to see them run around this event and honk the horns on every piece of equipment they can," said Melanie O'Brien, one of the event coordinators. "We have some broken blinker switches at the end because they love to hit all the knobs, but the kids have a blast."
All the proceeds from the event will benefit pediatric patients, their families, services and programs at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. The event has raised more than $100,000 for the Kadlec Foundation since it began in 2010.
Kidz Dig Rigz is Saturday, May 17th at Columbia Park in Kennewick, near the Lampson Pits. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. It will open early, between 9-10:30 a.m., for children with special needs. Admission is $5 and children 2 and under get in for free.
The first 1,000 kids will also get into the event for free.
