Bale Breakers Showcases Their Success During Craft Beer Week

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- People around the country might recognize our region for its wines but another alcoholic beverage is flourishing here in Washington, beer.

Tours, beer and music were all part of the festivities for American Craft Beer week Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day to enjoy a brew, or if you're this guy;
"It's always a good day to drink a beer."
I'd have to agree.
"The sun's out, it doesn't get better."
In the state of Washington there are now more chances to enjoy a good beer than ever before. Last year 62 new breweries opened their doors. That's the second highest total in the nation.
"The beer drinkers in Washington are really starting to enjoy the beer with more flavor and appreciating more artisan style of craft beer," Meghann Quinn of Bale Breakers Brewery said.

And it's Bale Breakers beers that are quickly being recognized as some of the best new beers in Washington. It's days like today that I'm not lucky to be on the job.

Bale Breakers has plenty to celebrate Saturday. In their first year of operation they've received awards for best new brewer in Washington, Yakima Valley's emerging business of the year and more.

"This first year has been simply amazing," Meghann said.
Their beer is also served on tap at Mariners games and will be featured at Centurylink for thirsty Seahawks fans. Quite simply, people love what they taste.
"Great stuff," Tim Schall said. "It's a nice hoppy beer, I'm a hoppy beer kind guy, it's just my stuff."

So while Washington is on the up and up in the beer department, it seems as if a new brewery of our own has already made it.
