Wiley City Rodeo Ropes in Hundreds of Spectators

WILEY CITY, WA. -- If you're looking for some fun this weekend the 65th Annual Wiley City Rodeo kicked off Saturday.
It's a family tradition for the small town just outside of Yakima, and is completely run by volunteers. Participants travel thousands of miles from as far as the midwest to perform here. And hundreds of local people come out to the two day event, too. It starts again Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

"Bringing your kids out, having fun," Jason Green said. "Just having a good time and learning how to treat an animal right."

The Wiley City Rodeo is one of the last in the state of Washington that is still unsanctioned. Organizers say that independence allows them to have more events they otherwise could not do.
