OREM, Utah — In it's last Western Athletic Conference Championship meet, the University of Idaho left with some new hardware to put in the trophy case. Both the men and women's team were crowned the 2014 WAC Outdoor Conference Champions on Saturday. The Vandal men won by a 46-point margin and the women finished 18.5 points better than the second-place finishers.

"It was an awesome team effort," 2014 Men's and Women's WAC Outdoor Coach of the Year Wayne Phipps said. "We had so many people who were willing to do whatever they could to help the team win. We really wanted to win both championships in our last year in the WAC. We also wanted to help Idaho win its fist ever WAC Commissioners Cup."

Both squads wrapped up the titles prior to the meet's final event, the 4x400 relay. For the Idaho men won its second conference track and field title of the season, sweeping both the indoor and outdoor meets. It is also the Vandals second outdoor title in three years, also claiming the championship in 2012.

The Vandal women made history on Saturday, winning their first outdoor track and field championships in program history. Individually Hannah Kiser became the first woman in WAC history to win the 1500m, 5000m and 10000m. Kiser's three individual titles from the meet give her six outdoor titles in her career.

Kiser was voted Women's Outstanding Track Performer for the second year in a row. She also took home High Point honors, totaling 30 points. Freshman Katelyn Peterson was awarded the Women's Freshman of the Year award. Peterson won the high jump with a WAC season-best height of 1.79m (5-10.50) on Friday. On the men's side Arphaxad Carroll earned his second Freshman of the Year award of the season. Carroll won the men's long and triple jump events and earned Second Team All-WAC honors in the 100m.

The Vandals combined for seven gold medals on Saturday. Andrey Levkiv won his second title of the meet with a discus throw of 48.30m (158-05). Ben Ayesu-Attah won the 400m dash in 46.62 seconds, a new career-best. On the women's side, Tayler Feinauer took the javelin throw with a toss of 47.47m (155-09), setting new career and 2014 WAC-bests. Freshman Ana Pardo edged out teammate Adara Winder to win the shot put with a heave of 14.72m (48-03.50).

Ayesu-Attah found the podium twice on Saturday. He finished second in the 200m dash (21.31). Emmanuel Panchol scored two Second Team All-WAC honors, placing fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump. Kyle Rothwell added to his accolades on Saturday. He finished with the bronze in the men's discus with a toss of 45.56m (149-06). Rothwell's hammer throw distance of 55.43m (118-10) gave him fifth in the standings and Second Team All-WAC honors.

Sophomore Marquita Palmer totaled two bronze medals on the day. She placed third in the 1500m with a time of 4:36.54. She then repeated her performance in the 800m with a third-place time of 2:13.60. Teammate Taylor Hewett followed her across the finish, placing fourth with a time of 2:24.39. Freshman Danny Brunner took bronze in the men's 800m finishing in 1:53.05.

Joining Kiser on the 5000m podium was teammate Alycia Butterworth, placing third. Holly Stanton Browning earned Second Team All-WAC honors after her sixth-place finish. Valerie Mitchell followed Stanton Browning across the finish, placing seventh. Cody Helbling finished sixth in the men's 5000m.

Freshman Faith Eruwa jumped a distance of 12.32m (40-05) in the women's triple jump, taking the silver in the event. Fellow freshman Dušan Jevtic scored a fourth-place finish and Second Team All-WAC honors in the men's high jump.
