Wine Growers Excited About Upcoming Harvest

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA VALLEY, WA. -- After a record breaking crop last season, it's shaping up to be another good year for grapes in Washington. The warm weather lately has been good for the grape vines as growers are in the first stages of trimming down the new leaves so the grapes themselves can get some sun.

"We hope that this harvest is shaping up to be another beautiful harvest for Washington state just like the string that we've had," grape grower Kathy Shiels said.

According to the Washington Wine Commission, there are more than 350 grape growers in the state and more than 40 different varietals grown here.
