NBCRightNow.com - About 113,000 adult portable bed handles are being recalled after three deaths, two in the state of Washington.

The bed handles, sold by Bed Handles Inc., of Blue Springs Missouri, are used to help people get into and out of bed. The agency says the handles can shift out of place when attached to a bed without safety retention straps, creating a dangerous gap between the handle and the side of the mattress.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says three women have gotten trapped between the mattress and the handles, and died. One Washington woman died at a state managed-care facility and the other, in her 40s and disabled, died at a state adult family home. The third woman to die was an elderly woman at a Minnesota assisted family living facility.
