OSP Releases Name of Woman Killed in I-84 Crash Near Meacham

UPDATE/MEACHAM, OR - Oregon State Police have released the name of the woman killed in a crash on Interstate 84 near Meacham on Thursday.

Troopers say 76 year old Barbara May Nash from Pendleton died after her car drifted drifted off the interstate, up an embankment and onto a guardrail around 1:30pm Thursday.

The vehicle came to rest on its side off the eastbound lanes. Troopers say Nash died at the scene. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Oregon State Police troopers are still on scene investigating Thursday afternoon's fatal accident along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 near Meacham.

Witnesses told investigators about 1:35, and elderly woman in an SUV was passing other cars using the left lane, then drifted to the right onto the shoulder.  The car continued into the gravel off the pavement, traveling several hundred feet before going up an embankment and onto a guardrail.  

It ended up on its passenger side off the eastbound lanes. The woman died at the scene, her name has not been released.
