On the same day of the 2014 MLB Draft, the Texas Rangers installed cameras at the home ballparks of their minor league affiliates so they could check in on the stars of the future. 

Today's Rangers draft selections are just two of the players who might be suiting up in Spokane Indians' uniforms in the near future and caught live on candid camera.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Texas Rangers drafted right-handed pitcher Luis “Lulu” Ortiz with its 30th overall selection in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft on Thursday, June 5th. With its next pick, 59th overall in the second round, the Rangers selected Ti’Quan Forbes out of Columbia High School in Mississippi.

Ortiz, from Sanger High School in Sanger, Calif., is listed at 6’2” and 210 pounds. The 18 year old has a college commitment to Fresno State University. Ortiz’s fastball, which floats between 92-95 mph, is considered his best pitch; his slider is also considered one of the best secondary pitches in the draft. He was ranked the 28th overall prospect by Baseball America.

Forbes is the latest athletic middle infielder pick made by the Rangers in the early rounds of the draft. With talent brimming from the position at all ages with the likes ofElvis Andrus, Jurickson Profar and Rougned Odor, Texas has made it clear they value the center of the diamond. Forbes is listed at 6’3” and 180 pounds. His bat and feet are quick, and he is believed to have some power potential. Baseball America had him rated 46th overall.
