MOSCOW, Idaho - A Moscow man died on Thursday after accidentally shooting himself.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office said in a press release sent out on Friday that deputies responded to a home on Cameron Road after the man's wife came home and found him dead at the bottom of a stairway.

After an investigation by detectives from both the Sheriff's Office and the Idaho State Police, it was determined that 66-year-old Michael J. Snow had been walking down the stairs to the basement of his house while carrying two rifles and a pistol. Detectives say Snow fell down the stairs and the .22 caliber gun he was carry discharged and hit him in the chest. He was home alone at the time and died from his injuries.
