Yakima Arboretum Teaches Kids About Outdoor Fun

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- Bird watching experts say right now is the best time to go out and see some beautiful birds. Saturday afternoon, the Yakima Area Arboretum took a hand full of kids on a bird watching hunt.

Organizers put out some bird models to make it a little bit easier for the little ones. The Arboretum hopes events like this can encourage kids to get outside and be active.

"Our hope is," Andy Stepniewski said, "with this kind of event is to maybe take kids away from the video screen or television screen for just a little bit and reconnect them with nature."

The Arboretum says the Yakima Valley has several different climates, making it an ideal area for bird watchers to find all kinds of beautiful birds.
