    BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez, a fourth-degree black belt in the Korean martial art of taekwondo, has been crowned Miss USA 2014. She has beat out 50 other contestants Sunday night in Louisiana. First runner-up was Miss North Dakota Audra Mari. Erin Brady, of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, the 2013 winner, gave up her crown to Sanchez after a three-hour telecast from the Baton Rouge Civic Center in Louisiana.More >>

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - In case you missed the Miss USA Pageant on Sunday night, here are the 51 women who competed for the crown which ended up going to Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez. This was 63rd Miss USA title and Sanchez will now go on to represent the U.S. at the Miss Universe competition later this year.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Police were called to a North Central Spokane neighborhood Saturday afternoon to investigate a report of a woman going from mailbox to mailbox in the area, taking mail from some of them.  Police responded to the 700 block of W. Knox, and found a 32-year-old woman identified as Sarha Hollowell, walking about a block away.

    SALEM, N.H. (AP) - A routine oil change has turned into an unusual owl sighting for one car owner. The police department in Salem, New Hampshire, said Friday a mechanic popped the hood of a car and found an Eastern Screech owl sitting on the engine. The department said the car owner had no idea how the owl got there. Police guessed he was either seeking warmth or chasing a mouse.
