RICHLAND, WA - There is so much to see inside the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center: exhibits on Hanford, educational displays and even some local art.

Dozens of local artists submitted pieces to go on display. The 14 artists selected are showing prints, paintings and sculptures; all of which depict the broad spectrum of the area, from Hanford to the confluence of rivers.

"'I'm hoping that it adds to people's knowledge base and that they get something out of it and even if they don't see the symbolism in the piece, maybe they just enjoy it for the colors and that type of thing. They can see in it what they like," said artist Steve Yerian.

"It's 100% stainless steel and the interior is stainless steel rod for the frame and light gauge stainless for the wings. Then I added some texture. It's braided stainless steel like you find on hydraulic hoses," said another artist, Chris Foster.

Most of the pieces are for sale and every six months they will be switched out. The artwork is selected by a panel from WSU, CBC and Allied Arts. There will be another call for submissions in January 2015.

The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center will open to the public the first week of July.
