Indians Win Second Straight Behind Tendler Blast

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Luke Tendler hit a solo home run for his first professional hit as the right fielder went 2-for-3 in the Indians 5-3 win over the Eugene Emeralds on Saturday night. Spokane is now 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2009.

Tendler, who went 0-for-4 in his debut last night, hammered a fastball in the third inning to give the Indians a 3-0 lead. Tendler would add another hit in the game to push his season average to .286. Alberto Triunfel, making his 2014 debut, knocked in two RBIs with a double in his first plate appearance in the first inning.

Richelson Pena, making his stateside debut after three seasons in the Rangers Dominican Summer League, allowed only five hits and one unearned run in six innings of work. He collected three strikeouts before being relieved by Greg Williams. Williams allowed two runs in his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery over a year ago. Ryan Ledbetter and Shane McCain finished off with a scoreless eighth and ninth inning, respectively.

Seth Spivey went 3-for-3, and Eduard Pinto continued his early-season hot streak by garnering two more hits and another RBI to push his average up to .556. Jose Trevino also collected his second RBI double of the young season.
