FLORENCE, OR - Authorities say a 69-year-old man from Florence, Oregon, and his 15-year-old grandson from Washington state were aboard a small plane that crashed into the Pacific Ocean.

The body of the grandfather, Richard Munger, was recovered Sunday. Authorities said Monday they haven't found the teenager, identified as Benjamin Dressler. No hometown information about him was immediately available.

The Lane County sheriff's office said the single-engine plane took off Sunday morning from Florence and crashed about 500 yards offshore.

Witnesses on the beach reported hearing a pop before the engine quit. Federal authorities are investigating. The plane was a Grumman American AA5.
