Multiple Construction Projects Going on in the Tri-Cities, Drivers May Face Delays

Posted: Updated: - Drivers in the Tri-Cities may want to be aware of several construction projects going on around the area.

The cities of Kennewick and Richland are working together to put in a new traffic light at Steptoe Street and Center Parkway. Crews expect to have the light working Wednesday and they'll be in the area working on it until then.

Drivers can expect minor delays near the intersection through Wednesday.

Also in Kennewick, starting Tuesday the City plans to close a part of Dayton Street until August for canal bridge work. Crews are expected to close Dayton Street between 1st Avenue and 6th Avenue to build the new canal bridge.

People can still get to Keewaydin Park and the library off of 6th Avenue and Dayton Street. The Benton Franklin bus stop that is currently near the bridge will also be moved to Auburn Street near the Kennewick Senior Center. Crews say they expect to wrap up the project by the end of August.

In Burbank crews with the state Department of Transportation plan to close a portion of Highway 124 for most of the day on Tuesday. Crews say they will close Highway 124 at the rail road tracks about five miles east of Burbank so crews can repair a portion of the Union Pacific tracks in the area.

The closure is expected to last from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
