Iraq Veteran Reacts To Terrorist Violence, Says He's Not Surprised

SPOKANE, Wash. -

As a terrorist-linked insurgency group continues to sweep Iraq, the United States is weighing its options and heightening security around the U.S. embassy in Baghdad; but countless veterans who put their own lives on the line fighting in Iraq are watching the developments with a vested interest.

Geoff Kristianson is one of them.

He served as an active duty Marine from 1999 to 2008, and served three tours in Iraq as a helicopter pilot. He sad the sudden surge in terrorist violence in Iraq is sad – but not surprising.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - A 9-1-1 call triggered a massive emergency response to the Spokane River Tuesday afternoon, but the man rescue crews were trying to save said he didn’t want their help. Spokane police officers and firefighters responded just downstream of the Green Street Bridge shortly after noon. Our crews were on scene and heard the man tell firefighters and police that he was just swimming.
