Hundreds of Cars Roll Into Richland's Uptown Thursday Evening for Cool Desert Nights

RICHLAND, WA - The 21st Annual Cool Desert Nights event kicks off Thursday evening in Richland.

More than 700 classic cars are registered for this year's festivities.

Over the next four days, there will be three Show N' Shines, a parade, an autocross event, food, music and more. Organizers say Cool Desert Nights draws more than 20,000 people, and has a big impact on the local economy.

"We market this event all over the Northwest," said Lori Mattson, the CEO and President for the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. "We have hundreds of people who come here from our of town for 3-4 days and they stay in the hotels, and they eat in our restaurants and gas up at our gas stations, and go shopping here as well."

The All-City Cruise starts Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m., at the TRAC in Pasco. It'll end at the Richland Dairy Queen on Jadwin Avenue, with a mini Show N' Shine, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

The main event is Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to midnight, at the Uptown Shopping Center in Richland.
