In the mood to try an english beer this Friday night?
YAKIMA, WA - In the mood to try an english beer this Friday night?
"Just pop along to the Beer Shoppe and ask for a pint of Real Cask Conditioned Ale," said Tony Mitchelhill.
If you do stop by, you'll most likely see Mitchelhill, the man behind the real cask ale.
Mitchelhill designed equipment and built new facilities in the Beer Shoppe's cellar. The ale is stored in a cask rather than a keg, and it continues to ferment. Mitchelhill said it has low carbonation and complex flavors. It's also very rare in the United States.
"It's another growing segment of beer industry that is not to well known in this area, even in the United States at all," said Jeff Clemmons, the Owner of the Beer Shoppe. "So it's just another way that the Beer Shoppe can introduce another fantastic aspect of beer."
"I'm highly encouraged that this will form a new niche," said Mitchelhill.
Mitchelhill said cask ale has something for everybody's taste buds. If you're a fan of something light.
"An English style, which we will be putting on soon is mild, very low alcohol, a very rich flavor of molt and gentle roast nuts, but not bold," said Mitchelhill.
Or maybe you're in the mood for something stronger.
"Another ale we have down below is an English style IPA, and that would be much more assertive, certainly stronger in alcohol," said Mitchelhill.
The Beer Shoppe said they couldn't be more excited for the opening Friday night, and this is something they've wanted to do for a while.
