Yakima Specialties Holds Yard Sale to Benefit Developmental Disabilities

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- Over in Yakima, they held a unique yard sale of their own. So unique that Tim Adams, our weatherman, was in town Friday night for his 'Tim's Treasures' segment.

This yard sale benefits Yakima Specialties, a non-profit organization that helps mentally disabled people in the community and assists them in getting steady jobs.

"We have folks with some really serious barriers to employment," Lyle Ocker said. "So it gives them a chance to get out of their home, they're productive, they're generating a paycheck, and the social aspect is really important as well."

Yakima Specialties is celebrating their 50th year in the Yakima community. Organizers hoped to raise more than a thousand dollars from Saturday's sale.
