Irrigation Water Should be Restored Monday in SE Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - The Kennewick Irrigation District says about 4500 families in southeast Kennewick and Finley should have irrigation water again on Monday.

Workers spent Sunday night trenching a new canal next to the one that broke on Saturday. KID says it appears a rodent may have caused the canal breach along Game Farm Road and Oak Street.

On Monday, workers plan to redirect the water into the new canal. That will allow the to reach homes and farms while workers repair the other canal.

STATEMENT FROM KENNEWICK IRRIGATION DISTRICT : The Kennewick Irrigation District wants to notify the public and especially customers receiving water through the Division 4 (SE Kennewick to Finley) or AP canals (Southridge) that we have experienced a canal breach in Division 4 near Game Farm Rd. and Oak St.  Water was turned off last night to these areas to curtail the spill and begin the repairs.  The AP canal will be switched over and have water back by Monday.  The Division 4 damages are being assessed and repairs will be completed as quickly as possible.
