RICHLAND, WA - Richland's HomeLink program finally has a new place to call home. The program is an alternative learning experience that allows students to use their computers to work at their own pace at home or now, at their new location on the Jason Lee Elementary campus in Richland.

On Tuesday, the Richland School District picked the location after failing to agree on one a couple weeks ago.

The other option was on Welsian Way, but an underground well there complicated the building process.

Members of the public spoke out tonight as well, some for and some against the Jason Lee site.

"If we put that school there, we're gonna have the same problem we have at Jason Lee. We almost had two fatalities there with kids, the corner is way too busy," one resident argued.

"It's a district-owned property and the use of it needs to be for district things and we're a district school that deserves to have our needs met in the same way that every other kid's needs are met," one supporter told the district.

The budget for the HomeLink site is $5.3 million and the building is projected to be 17,000 square feet.

It will come from part of the $98 million school bond that passed in February that included finding a permanent space for home link.
