PASCO, WA -  It's not the first time this summer and it won't be the last.  Hundreds of softball players are descending on the Tri-Cities this weekend for a major softball tournament.  This time, it's the NSA Washington Girls Fastpitch Championships.

More than 120 teams of girls ages 10-18 are playing at multiple sites across the Tri-Cities.  With families involved, about 4,500 people are here for the weekend, and the event is expected to generate more than $1.3 million for the local economy.  It's the 7th straight year they've held the tournament here, and aside from its central location, there's another reason they keep choosing Tri-Cities as the host site.

"Because with softball we have 36 fields within 15 minutes of each other. It's easy to get this many teams in one tournament. The ages range from 10-18, and they come from as far as Bellingham. We pull a lot of teams from the other side. They use it as a vacation, also," said Kip Reavis, one of the site directors for this year's tournament.

The tournament continues through Sunday at softball complexes in Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland.
