Increasingly Popular Bite of Yakima Showcases Local Cuisine

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- Local food was on full display Saturday at the Bite of Yakima. This popular event was only started recently but is quickly becoming a local favorite.

There's fun, music and of course food at the Bite of Yakima Saturday. This young event is growing fast, which we can definitely understand because this is delicious.

Opera might not be the music you would expect to hear at the Arboretum. Neither would you think that the best fries in the world would be at the 2nd Annual Taste of Yakima.

There were a lot of tasty treats. Some you would expect, and others you might not normally see. From cotton candy to shawarma, that's Mediterranean food. And people seem to love it.

"Mmmmmm... It is so good!" one woman exclaimed.

A good crowd showed up to test all of the more than 30 vendors showcasing local cuisine. This event is only in its second year, and the Bite of Yakima expects more than two-thousand people to come through, nearly doubling the amount that went last year.

"The Bite of Yakima is tasty and fun," Reesha Cosby of Town Square Media said. "The whole goal of this is to make people appreciate that Yakima has great food, great fun and a great place to come hang out during the summer time."

Organizers hope to grow the event to match other food tasting events in big cities around Washington. And with delicious bites like this, they're well on their way.
