CDA PD: Suspect arrested for rape

PRESS RELEASE FROM CDA PD: On Tuesday at 5pm Coeur d’Alene Police Detectives arrested Joshua G. McKenzie, 26 years of age of Alberta Canada for rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, and destruction of evidence.

On 06/30/14 McKenzie traveled to Coeur d’Alene to meet up with a sixteen year-old female he had been corresponding with on-line. The victim friended McKenzie on Facebook approximately six months ago and a sexual conversation ensued for several months.

Approximately 10:30pm he contacted the victim by phone and she agreed to meet McKenzie and go to a local motel. He picked her up at her residence and they checked into the motel together where they spent the night and the sexual act occurred. Her mother believed she was with another friend spending the night.

On today’s date in the afternoon the victim took McKenzie home to meet her mother, and her mother alerted police. McKenzie was taken into custody at the Police Department after speaking to detectives. He was booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.

Court documents say Harper threatened to Kelli Winant and her family if he went back to jail. Police say after Harper had beat Winant, she found a gun in his gym bag and took it and his keys to a neighbor's house.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Police are investigating after a shooting in North Spokane has left one person dead.  Officers responded to a shooting call at Wellesley and Nevada just before 5 p.m. outside of JK Gas and Grocery. Police say they have no suspects at this time and are asking any witnesses to contact them.  One lane of eastbound Wellesley is closed while the investigation continues.
