Posted: Updated:

PRESS RELEASE FROM CDA PD: On Tuesday at 5pm Coeur d’Alene Police Detectives arrested Joshua G. McKenzie, 26 years of age of Alberta Canada for rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, and destruction of evidence.

On 06/30/14 McKenzie traveled to Coeur d’Alene to meet up with a sixteen year-old female he had been corresponding with on-line. The victim friended McKenzie on Facebook approximately six months ago and a sexual conversation ensued for several months.

Approximately 10:30pm he contacted the victim by phone and she agreed to meet McKenzie and go to a local motel. He picked her up at her residence and they checked into the motel together where they spent the night and the sexual act occurred. Her mother believed she was with another friend spending the night.

On today’s date in the afternoon the victim took McKenzie home to meet her mother, and her mother alerted police. McKenzie was taken into custody at the Police Department after speaking to detectives. He was booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.
