2-Year-Old Boy Hit by Van Dies, Kennewick Police Believe it's an Accident

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police say a two-year-old boy has died after being hit by a van Tuesday evening.

Officers say that around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 36-year-old Mendeck Farah pulled into the parking lot at her home on the 500 block of South Olympia in Kennewick. As she was pulling in, her 2-year-old son ran out to greet her.

Officers say at this point in the investigation, the cause of the accident points to the possibility that Farah pushed her foot on the accelerator instead of the brake. Farah hit the boy, who was drug under the vehicle for several feet.

The father of the child immediately pulled the child from under the van and transported him to Trios ER. The child was pronounced dead at Trios ER.

The investigation is still on-going, however officers say it appears that this was an accident and a tragedy.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, but has not yet spoken to police about what they saw happen is encouraged to call the Kennewick Police Department.
