KENNEWICK, WA - If you're looking for something fun to do this Fourth of July, a popular Tri-Cities event is back and it's bigger and better than ever. River of Fire always draws crowds to Columbia Park on Independence Day.
Thursday, all the community partners helping put the event together showed off some of the pre-fireworks work. It takes the lead man weeks to prepare and he said we're in for a real treat this year. More funding for the fireworks show means a bigger and better one.
"We have these mid-show volleys that will last about 20 seconds each and there's six or seven of these. It reallypickss up speed during those mid show volleys. It's pretty exciting when they're going on," said pyrotechnic display operator John Falleen.
The fireworks show is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. but before that, you'll find food and merchant vendors all throughout the park. The J & S Dreamland Express is offering free rides for kids. It will cost $1 for adults. There will also be kids games and a petting zoo beginning at 7 p.m.
