House-sitter Shoots Car Prowler Outside Terrace Heights Home

TERRACE HEIGHTS, WA. -- A 17-year-old boy was shot once in the leg while allegedly trying to steal items from a car on Santa Roza Drive in Terrace Heights. 

According to Yakima County deputies, an 18-year-old man was house sitting early Sunday morning when he heard noises coming from the driveway. He went outside and found two males inside and around his car. The 18-year-old went back inside and retrieved a rifle. When he confronted the two males, they ran. 

The 18-year-old fired one shot which hit the 17-year-old suspect in the leg. The 18-year-old then put the gun away, called 9-1-1 and gave medical attention to the suspect before paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to Harborview with a serious injury that is not considered life threatening.
