UPDATE/WEST RICHLAND, WA - West Richland Police say the man found inside a former concession stand Saturday night died of a self inflicted gun shot wound.

Officers say the body was decomposing and they are still trying to confirm an identity. The Benton County Coroner is now using dental records and other means to determine identification.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

WEST RICHLAND, WA - West Richland Police are investigating a body found on Fallon Drive late Saturday night.

The Benton County Coroner's Office said a neighbor walking by the area late Saturday night called police after passing by and smelling a strong odor.

Police responded and found a man's body inside the concession stand of a former little league park.

The coroner's office has not identified the body but say it is a white male between 20 and 30-years-old. They are working on getting dental records to make that identification. They also said the body could have been there for several days.

A neighbor across the street from where the body was found said he too smelled something strange the night before.

"(Officers) all got together and started kicking the door or beating on it with something, took them a little bit and they finally got it opened and then I found out from another officer it wasn't someone with a gun, it was a dead body they found there, supposedly got in through the window and then went in, because no body had keys to this building" Raymond Philips said.

NBC Right Now is still waiting to hear from West Richland Police about this investigation but the coroner's office says police did find a shotgun near the body.
