WENATCHEE, WA - A fire in Wenatchee is now 90% contained after threatening eight homes for hours on Sunday. Chelan County firefighters said the fire started around 2 a.m. and spread quickly over the mountainside.

The flames were within feet of some homes, forcing evacuations.

"I woke up at 2 am to firemen pounding on the windows and doors telling me to evacuate immediately," said Ann McIntosh, who was evacuated.

"Answered the door to hear 'call 9-1-1, you have a fire.' As i looked out our front door, the fire was about 20 feet from our house," said another evacuee, Judy Barrows.

The fire burned more than 180 acres of land. Fire investigators have pinpointed the start of the fire and are investigating the cause.
