Wildfire Prompts Level 3 Evacuations in Chelan County

UPDATE/CHELAN, WA - A new wildfire in central Washington has burned about 5,000 acres, or nearly 8 square miles, of brush and grass in Chelan County.

The blaze that started Tuesday afternoon threatened several homes in the area about four miles west of Entiat.

The Chelan County sheriff's office has advised residents in Mills Canyon and Dinkleman Canyon to leave the area immediately.

Brant Stanger of the Central Washington Interagency Communication Center said Tuesday night that about 150 firefighters would be attacking the blaze overnight.

The cause is under investigation. 

Meanwhile, a wildfire burning in Douglas County near Mansfield was 70 percent contained by Tuesday.
