New Computer System Connects Homeless With More Resources

Posted: Updated:

A new database launches in Missoula to make finding help for the homeless a one-stop shop.

The Community Housing Referral and Information System, nicknamed cHris, means a person looking for help can answer the standard questions just once. After they create a profile, any participating agency can see their stats.

So far, six organizations have joined in, including the Poverello Center and the Missoula Housing Authority.

"It was a thing that a lot of people identified as a huge barrier to service for them because, frankly, it just made them weary," said Michael Moore, the director of Reaching Home.

You can sign up through any of the groups involved, or you can just call 2-1-1.

This is a part of Missoula's ten year plan to end homelessness

It's funded by a an Emergency Solutions grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
