Right now, law enforcement from around the Tri-Cities is in Pasco trying to get a man who's barricaded himself inside a home on Providence Lane and Sacramento Drive out.
UPDATE/PASCO, WA - We now know the name of the man shot and killed during a standoff with police.
The Franklin County Coroner has identified him as 49-year-old Richard Howard of Pasco.
Pasco Police say a member of the S.W.A.T. team shot and killed Howard outside his home on the 5000 block of Sacramento Drive, at the corner of Sacramento and Providence Lane.
Officers initially went to the house Wednesday night after neighbors reported Howard firing a gun several times. When officers arrived, police say the man ran inside, and continued to shoot at the officers.
Police evacuated nearby homes and the S.W.A.T. team surrounded the house for about two hours. Around 10:30 p.m. or 10:45 p.m., police say Howard came outside waving a long rifle in a threatening manner, so a tactical response team member shot and killed him.
The coroner plans to perform an autopsy on Thursday afternoon.
No one else got hurt throughout the standoff. Police say Howard's house was empty when he barricaded himself inside.
