PORT TOWNSEND, WA - A missing and endangered persons alert has been issued out of Jefferson County in Washington state.

Authorities say 86-year-old Joe H. Shimojima was last seen on Towne Point Avenue in Port Townsend. Shimojima is an asian man with white hair and brown eyes. He is about five feet tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants, black t-shirt with a race car and a reddish-purple flannel.

Authorities say Shimojima has Alzheimer's and he drove away from his residence while his son was taking a shower. He has not driven in years and is in mid-stage Alzheimer's, making him not know where he is. Authorities say he found where the keys to the vehicle were hidden and left at approximately 1:30 PM. He has no cell phone and cannot use a regular phone.

The vehicle he left in is a 2006 tan Buick Rendezous vehicle with Washington license plate number 338VJG and has approximately a half tank of gas and he may be headed to Winlock, Washington via highway 101 south or 1-5 through Tacoma.
