KENNEWICK, WA - It was a colorful day Saturday in the Tri-Cities as runners took on the Run or Dye fun run.
"It was a little bit scary cause of the heat but I think we were able to get everybody through pretty quick and so it wasn't as bad," explained one of the event organizers Mitchell Harris.
With temperatures breaking into triple digits, the runners got an early start around 8:30 a.m. at the 2nd ever Run or Dye 5k in the area. Participants pay a fee to cover the cost of course setup, color packets and even funding that goes back to the local YMCA and United Way.
“We're just about bringing unity and love to the community. We're all colored in different colors and we all end up looking the same. That's kind of our message to unify each other and to bring love," said Harris.
After running the 5k through multiple coloring zones everyone threw their remaining packets in the air at the finish line and as the pictures show it was a very fun and colorful time.
