MOXEE, WA. -- People escaped the heat with an ice cold beer Saturday at Bale Breaker Brewery. And while they enjoyed a drink, they helped find a cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease.
This is the second year that bale breaker has hosted the Ales for ALS Fundraiser that they started last year. The brewery sent out a special batch of hops to more than 70 breweries around the country asking only one thing in return, a dollar donated for each pint sold.
Unfortunately, Bale Breakers owners know this debilitating disease all too well.
"My uncle is fighting the disease," Meghann Quinn said. "As well as a couple other members of my family. So we're very passionate. Right now there is no good treatment or cure for the disease. Every dollar we raise will help be able to save people that are fighting the disease."
Bale Breakers unveiled a new seasonal beer specifically for the event. They hope to raise a quarter of a million dollars for ALS research.
