Tri-Cities Regional SWAT Team Looking for a Fugitive After Surrounding West Richland Home

UPDATE/WEST RICHLAND, WA - Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers say a man accused of assault has turned himself in to Police. 

28-year-old Christian Chavez turned himself into the Benton County Jail late Tuesday night. 

Earlier in the day, officers say Chavez threatened to kill someone with a knife, and then escaped Police. The SWAT team surrounded a home, but when officers searched it, Chavez wasn't inside.

WEST RICHLAND, WA - The Tri-Cities Regional SWAT team needs your help finding a fugitive accused of assault after he got away from officers in West Richland.


West Richland police say Christian Chavez threatened to kill someone with a knife Tuesday morning. They followed him to S. 42nd Place where they surrounded a home. Officers eventually served a search warrant for the home but Chavez wasn't inside.

Officers say Chavez is Hispanic, 5'03", 130 lbs., with short black hair that may appear shaved. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt and cut off jean shorts. If you see him you should call 911.

WEST RICHLAND, WA. - West Richland police and the Tri-Cities Regional Swat team are trying to get a suspect out of a house along S. 42nd Place.

Officers first responded around 9 a.m. Tuesday to an assault on Chelan Drive. They tracked the suspect to 42nd Place and deployed the SWAT team around 11 a.m. Officers believe the suspect is in the house and is wanted for a felony warrant as well as for threatening to kill someone with a knife. Police say the suspect has a history of weapons violations.

Officers used a noise making device around 12:45 p.m. to try and get the suspect out of the home. No shots have been fired.

Fallon Drive is blocked from Arlington Drive to just East of 42nd place.
