SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Northwest League announced that utility player Seth Spivey of the Spokane Indians has been named Player of the Week for July 7-13. Spivey hit 14-for-26 in the six games played to post a more than astounding slash line of .538/.600/.692. The 2014 10th-round pick collected two doubles, a triple, five RBI and seven runs during the stretch.

The Abilene Christian product, who plays catcher and second base, is the Northwest League leader with a .373 batting average, and is fourth with an on-base percentage of .439. Spivey’s leadership and consistency have kept the Indians in the North Division’s top spot since the season began on June 13. The 22-year-old celebrated his birthday on July 6 by hitting his first home run of the season in a victory over the Vancouver Canadians.

Spivey hit a stellar .341 in the 2013-14 season for Abilene Christian University, driving in 33, scoring 44 times and even swiping 11 bases. His .346 on-base percentage led the team, and in 205 at-bats only struck out 26 times while drawing 21 walks.

Spivey is the second Spokane Indians player to receive the NWL Player of the Week honor. Jose Trevino (June 30-July 6) earned the honor last week.

Helmis Rodriguez of the Tri-City Dust Devils earned NWL Pitcher of the Week honors.
