YAKIMA, WA - Three people are without a home after a mobile home fire in Yakima.

Firefighters first found heavy fire in the back bedroom and underneath the home along the 7600 block of West Nob Hill Blvd. Firefighters were able to get control of the fire within 15 minutes.

Crews say a woman first heard something crackling under her bed and then found her bedroom was filled with smoke and there was fire in the wall. The woman woke her two daughters and they were able to escape without injury. The family dog did not make it out in time.

Firefighters say the fire started from a portable air conditioning unit.

The home was significantly damaged from smoke, heat, and water. There was about $30,000 worth of damages. Firefighters note there were working smoke alarms in the home but not in the bedroom of the fire.
