Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market Begins 29th Season

Posted: Updated:

Saturday morning marked the beginning of the 29th season of the Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market.

Local vendors offered a variety of products -- including fresh produce, jams and jellies, and a variety of meats. KULR-8 photojournalist Jessica Hilgendorf brings us the sights and sounds of the first market day of the season.

"Forty-five to sixty vendors come down on a weekly basis. We rotate the food vendors so there's a different variety of food vendors every Saturday," said Kelly Weber, co-market master of the Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market.

"This is my very first farmers market. I'm here helping Becky's Berries. They kind of recruited me because they needed some extra help today. I just came out to help and it's been a lot of fun," said Cricket Witt, a vendor at the Becky's Berries booth.

"It's a good meeting place to meet friends and family downtown. There's a lot for everybody to do down here."

"The smells are good. The sounds are good. The vibe is good here. You can eat healthy foods for a really good price."

"If you buy local produce or from the local food vendors down here too, you are helping the community."

"It's just very good for everybody involved, because you getting healthy product, you're getting delicious homemade product, and you're having a sense of community. I will definitely be back next week."

The Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market will be downtown under Skypoint every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon for the rest of the summer.
