KENNEWICK , WA - Kennewick Police is warning people about a scam going around.

Police say several people in Kennewick have reported getting calls from someone named Lt. Greg Carr who says he is from the Franklin County Federal Warrants Division.

Police say the man has told people they need to pay a $1,000 fine for not showing up to jury duty.

They were also told that if they failed to pay the fine they would be arrested and held in jail

The caller has also been telling people that payments must made as money orders, as they did not accept checks, debit or credit cards for payment.

In both instances over the weekend, the individuals receiving the calls knew it  was a scam and hung up on the caller.

An officer investigating the scam, called the number and the scammer identified himself as Lt. Carr and then hung up on on the Officer.

Police want to remind people that no law enforcement agency, local or federal, will make such calls.
